How to install a prehung exterior door on concrete floor. Line up the inside of the door threshold with the inside wall and center it in the frame with a tape measure. To install set the corner pieces on the sill then place the middle piece over top. If it fits apply liquid nails glue to the concrete and attach the threshold. You can touch up the door jamb with the matching touch up paint.
Screw the jamb to the studs then close the door and look at the gap between the jamb and door. It opens and closes well. When the saddle is in place restore the door jamb adding calk so that it fits nicely. If theres carpeting trim the carpet where frayed material hangs loosely.
Dont worry for now about the gap alongside the doorknob side of the door. You know youre in great shape if the gap along the hinge side of the door and the top of the door are the consistent one eighth inch. Run a neat bead of caulk between the exterior trim and the siding. If its too wide cut the ends with a hacksaw.
Then test the threshold for fit. Install prehung door steps. Stand the prehung door in the center of the door opening. Wedge shims between the jamb header and the frame header above to hold the door upright.
Some kits come in three pieces to better fit the opening. Once that cures the door is ready for paint and a lock.
