How To Install A Door Frame
Drive two nails through the frame through the shims and into the studs.
How to install a door frame. With the space between the door and the frame well sealed and insulated we moved to the outside where we fitted a piece of trim over the door and caulked around the brick molding to seal the exterior. When the fit looks right apply pvc cement where the middle piece will overlap the corner pieces and press it into place. Use finish nails and nail through the casing and shims and into the framing of the wall itself. Remove the door and frame after finishing the outline.
If you have vinyl or metal siding be sure to enlarge the outline to make room for the extra trim required. Cut 2x4s to the height of the door plus 1 12 inches 51 cm to allow room for the top of the frame and allowance for leveling the jamb. To install set the corner pieces on the sill then place the middle piece over top. To make the studs measure the height of the door to be installed.
If its too wide cut the ends with a hacksaw. Nail the door frame to studs drive 8 finishing nails through the frame through the shims and into the studs. Mount the frame and attach the door mount the casing of the door onto the wall framing. Now all that was left to do was install new interior trim finish the door and install the new handle and lock.
