Brush a layer of specialized smudge repair polish onto the affected nail. This method also helps loosen the cap of a hard to open nail polish bottle. The second step is to add small amount of acetone based nail polish remover into the nail polish and then shake the nail polish slightly to mix it around. Shake the bottle well and let it sit for ten minutes to allow the polish to thin properly.

Apply 1 coat of smudge repair polish to your smudged nail. Place the brush in the acetone and swish it around. Immerse your bottle of dry nail polish in a bowl filled with hot water. Take a small amount of acetone from the beauty supply store and add an equal part of orange oil to the solvent.

While it may seem like a quick fix adding nail polish will eventually break down the formula and ruin the polish. Keep swishing until the brush is clean. If you dont have access to lacquer thinner and need a quick fix try hot water. You only need to add 2 or 3 drops of acetone to the bottle close it well shake with force and ascertain whether or not this trick for fixing nail polish has produced good results.
